I’ve written the final word on opera legends, asked nudists how they pack a suitcase, and traced the targeted ads built to keep Black voters home on Election Day. Different beats, same instinct: find the person at the center of the story and make you care about them before the last line.
I sharpened that instinct over 15 years in broadcast newsrooms, public radio and digital politics desks, with a detour through diplomatic communications. My work has run on NPR, Axios, The Emancipator, Thrillist and Courier Newsroom. I also run Iron Gates Media, an independent studio for narrative podcasts and short video, and teach the next generation of reporters at Hunter College and CUNY’s Newmark J-School.
